"While Philadelphia boasts a reputation as a supportive community for various electronic music genres, trip-hop in particular seems to have a hard time finding a foothold here. Beauty's Confusion want to change that. They relocated to the Illadelph from Florida to capitalize on momentum generated by 2004's Breathe In, which fuses the polished sound of Zero 7 to the darker themes of Portishead. The results range from the loping sultriness of "Silhouette" and "Blue Deluge" to "Falling," which is downtempo edged with gothic eyeliner. When you get right down to it, Breathe In is a sublime selection of sex-havin' music for the wireless generation."

"Considering the remixes this duo has already made for bands like Kosheen, Public Enemy, Tori Amos, Bjork and many more, you directly realize that you are facing a band which is much more than an average project! The style and influences of BC will for sure please to the fans of cold trip pop à la Portishead and early Hooverphonic. I think that their sound lays somewhere in the midst of these aforementioned giants. I like the way vocalist Jenna Ferone literally plays with her voice, being now sensual and then colder and distant. She’s for sure partly responsible for the sensitive content of this work. But (Frederiksen) who’s mainly responsible for the writing is very talented as well. The slow rhythm in conjunction with the surreal atmospheres are well crafted and really seduce on songs like “Projection”, “The wrong way”, “Whirlwind”, “Faded”, “Moments like these” and the more jazzy orientated “Windmills”. There’re enough songs here to convince you, confirming the talent and potential of this duo! A band to keep an eye on!"

"Trip-hop from Florida? No way. Can’t be. That’s the land of the lost metal band right? Recalling the chilling trip-hop of Portishead and the other Bristol kids, Beauty’s Confusion drops beats and mixes in superb programming for a naughty and tre cool consequent. Never naïve this is a group that knows how to mix in excellent melodies with breaks that would blush even the best junglist. Jenna’s vocals remind of Dido and the aforementioned Portishead with pseudo-Cambodian exoticness and flagrant usage of harmonies. You’ll find yourself locked inside an impossible maze content to wander aimlessly nodding along knowing that the depths of the songs are all that truly matters. Outstanding."

ONE OF THE BEST CDs I HAVE HEARD IN YEARS
"If you are a music fan (and who isnt?) this is a MUST OWN CD. From beginning to end the music, intertwined perfectly with Jenna's amazing voice, will take you on a journey you will want to embark on over and over again. If you took the best parts of Portishead, Dido, Sarah McLachlan and Hooverphonic and threw them together to make a CD, it might come close to sounding as good as "Breathe In" does. A perfect CD to just chill to. Why this band is not huge makes no sense with so much garbage out nowdays. Buy this now...you will not be sorry."

GOOD STUFF
"I'm looking for something different when I listen to music. I want amazing melodies and great vocals, which are both covered by Beauty's Confusion. Yeah, so what...there is a bit of influence by Portishead in there. We are all a product of our influences, and trust me, there is enough originality here to make things work. Honestly, have you ever heard melodies so good that you get a chill? Beauty's Confusion pulls that off for me, so I recommended checking them out."

"This is the sleeper hit of 2004. I haven't heard a lot of people talk about this CD but people need to. This is a strong, dark debut album by two people whose only place to go is to the top of the new trip-hop scene. Dark beats, beautiful electronics and truly angelic vocals, as stated above. Fantastic record in every way that any fan of Portishead or Massive Attack needs to hear. 5 out of 5 stars."

"I enjoyed the music a great deal. I can see how the movies have inspired you all as your music definitely captures a mood or feeling or a tamber while yet still remaining wonderfully distinctive in its own right. Point being, the four songs I heard are great. They are well produced, poignant, creative, original, perfectly blended and arranged, and most importantly inspiring."

"At last! A good band from Florida!"
- Enamoured Fanzine, issue 2

"Solid, inspiring songs & production. Music that American radio should be playing, instead of all that whiny punk and macho bullheaded rock. I don't even like this electronic stuff, but I can't stop listening to these songs!!!"
